Auyan Tepuy / 13 Day-Tour
The 2,450 meter high Auyan Tepuy is the largest table mountain on earth with an area of 740 km2. The rainwater collects on its high plateau and forms there the almost 1,000 meters high Angel fall, the highest waterfall in the world. The Auyan Tepuy table mountain is located in the heart of the Gran Sabana and can only be reached by plane.
The 12-day Trekkingtour starts and ends in the Indian village Kavac.
Due to its secluded location the Auyan Tepuy is only rarely climbed and therefore it is unlikely to meet other hikers. After three days you reach the plateau and the view of the surrounding landscapes is breath taking. Especially when one is standing above the clouds and the neighbouring plateaus pierce through the cloud cover and look like islands from long past times.
On the high plateau you walk for four days by partly very difficult terrain until one reaches the Angel Falls. The golden and red shimmering river Churun offers excellent refreshment possibilities during this very hard hike.
Great panoramic views and of course the highlight is when you stand on top of Angel Falls and enjoy the view in the Devil’s Canyon.
All in all about 120 km walking distance are covered in 12 days of the tour. Every day is a real challenge.
The Auyan-Tepuy Trekkingtour is the most conditionally demanding tour in our program and therefore only suitable for sporty trekkers.
